In Memory of Jean Steinbach
Jean (Negless) Steinbach of Carroll passed away July 20, 2013, at the age of 85. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll, Iowa, with Father Timothy Johnson officiating. Visitation will be prior to Mass beginning at 9:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the Greteman Center. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Danbury, Iowa.
Jean was born July 24, 1927, to Frank and Amanda (Schumacher) Negless in Grand Meadows, Iowa, the ninth of ten children. She married Delbert Steinbach on September 17, 1945. Their marriage was blessed with six children – Audrey, Roger, Gale, Andy, Deb, and Trish.
She leaves to mourn her two sons, Roger and Gale; two daughters, Deb and Trish (Ben) Tanner; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Steinbach; a son-in-law, Vincent Kuhlman; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister and prayerful friend, Lorraine Horstman; a brother, Gaylen (Rita) Negless; a sister, Darlene (Alvin) Segebart; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was homemaker all of her life. A real nature lover which included gardening and the study of flowers, shrubs and trees, watching and knowing the names of all birds, and enjoyed crafts and crocheting. Jean was a Fatima enthusiast. Her faith and family were her whole life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delbert; son, Andy; daughter, Audrey; and infant great-granddaughter, Hope.
