Marda Jean Trail, age 76, of Holstein, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at the Morningside Rehab & Care Center of Ida Grove, Iowa
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Early Cemetery of Mercer, Missouri, under the direction of Greenlee - Middleton Funeral Homes of Princeton, Missouri. Reverend Ron Helton will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Jean was born on January 2, 1937 in Mercer, Missouri to Ralph and Marie (McKinney) Jeffries.
On August 1, 1955 she married Max Trail and to this union three daughters were born, Pamela, Gail Ann, and Machelle. They made their home in Des Moines, Iowa.
Following Max’s death, she returned for a brief time to Mercer, Missouri. In 1998 she moved to Holstein, Iowa to be near her grandchildren.
Jean enjoyed traveling with Max to Bluegrass festivals where he played in the band "Stagebrush", the Annual Mother Daughter’s Trip, afternoon coffee with her friends, and time spent with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters Pamela Carpenter (Randy) of Holstein, Iowa, Gail Ann Trail of Maxwell, Iowa, Machelle Trail of Des Moines, Iowa; three grandchildren, Kristen Mott (Jason) of Cordova, Tennessee, Brett Carpenter (Kristy) Of Port Orchard, Washington, Scott Carpenter (Belinda) of Galva, Iowa, Two Great Grandchildren Amari Selena Carpenter and Carter Alexander Mott.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max Trail, and a sister Delores (Jeffries) Fair.
